As a director of McBrearty Ballantyne, Tom specialises in helping businesses create and maintain a platform for long-term success. He is well-placed to do so; his extensive experience within a range of public and private organisations and across a variety of sectors has provided him with key insights into how business really works.

Tom’s unique understanding of people and business relationships enables him to support, guide and nurture business. He offers the benefit of his expertise in governance, management, effective structure and ways to innovate and encourage growth. By combining robust strategies and reliable direction with sound principles he helps businesses establish the fundamentals and negotiate the complexities, so they flourish and prosper.

He assists a number of commercial enterprises and local and national civic organisations. His career extends to manufacturing, agriculture, tourism, specialist products and retail sectors. His leadership and responsibility roles include CEO, Chair, Director, and Development Manager – with professional contributions to some of the country’s leading businesses and institutions, including the New Zealand Institute of Management.

Tom is a recipient of the Christchurch City Civic Award, and is widely recognised for his earthquake response initiatives. His commitment to supporting regional economic development and the recovery of Christchurch and Canterbury is ongoing.
